Runway Recap: Amanda Wakeley S/S 09

The final countdown to Fashion Week is on as the tents of Bryant Park prepare to open (reportedly for the last time) in just ten days. In anticipation of one of the most exciting events of the year, I will be counting down my top ten collections from Spring. Although most of the big names in fashion are found in New York, Milan and Paris, London is my personal favorite precisely because it features such a wealth of fresh and underrated talents, including Jasper Conran, Christopher Kane, Marios Schwab, and number ten on my list – Amanda Wakeley. The British designer is known for her precise tailoring and graceful, airy silhouettes that effortlessly exude confidence and sophistication. This collection, containing kimono-inspired jackets and flowing chiffon dresses over a refreshing palette of crisp whites and khakis and eye-popping carmine red, is certainly no exception.
